Southlake Children's Choir

Southlake Children's Choir promises to provide a premier choral experience for children and audiences throughout Northwest Indiana. We will live up to this promise by performing quality literature with excellence, providing age appropriate voice training for treble singers, helping children build confidence and poise through performance, and inspiring a lifetime of musical involvement.

Founded in 1984, Southlake Children's Choir is a non-profit choral ensemble dedicated to offering a quality musical experience to children ages seven through fourteen in Porter and Lake Counties. The choir is made up of three performing ensembles, two of which rehearse in Lake County and one in Porter County. The Apprentice Choir (Crown Point) is for young singers in grades 2-5, and the Concert Choir (Crown Point) has members in grades 5-9. New for the 2008-2009 season is the Treble Choir, which will be rehearsing in Valparaiso.

An audition is required for membership. For more information or to schedule an audition, please call 1-866-662-1151 (toll-free). Our season runs from September through May, and we hold auditions by appointment from May through August.

In response to comments from parents, the SCC board has been working to revise the pricing structure for the 2008-2009 season so that it more accurately reflects the total costs for participation in the choir. Tuition for the year will be $230 if paid by October 1 ($250 if paid by December 1;
$275 if paid by May 1). The tuition for each additional participating child in a family will be $120. As in the past, there is a one-time only $30.00 processing fee for new members, which includes an SCC t-shirt. There is also a $15.00 uniform fee for both boys and girls.

We will no longer be selling AffyTapples, which in years past has been our primary fundraiser. For the 2008-2009 season our fundraising efforts will focus on the "Leap into the Arts" event, which will be held on February 28, 2009. We will be asking parents to assist in a number of ways. More details regarding this event will be given at the parent meeting in September.
